Senior / Intermediate Accountant – Business Services
 
We are seeking a technically strong and motivated Accountant to join a well-established Western Sydney accounting practice with offices in the Parramatta / Penrith area. The firm offers a broad range of services in accounting, taxation, compliance, audit and business advisory, supporting clients from small family businesses through to Australian companies and private individuals.

Role Summary

 
As a Senior / Intermediate Accountant you will work within the Business Services team, contributing to the accurate preparation and lodgement of financial statements and tax compliance for a diverse client base. You’ll assist with accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations and work closely with senior team members to ensure compliance obligations are met efficiently and professionally.
This role is ideal for a candidate with solid compliance experience, strong technical grounding in accounting principles, and a desire to develop broader advisory skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

 
Key Responsibilities

Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
Manage lodgement of BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax and other compliance obligations.
Perform account reconciliations and assist with year-end procedures.
Support bookkeeping functions across client portfolios, including STP and super obligations.
Apply commercial understanding of tax principles including GST, CGT, indirect taxes and business structures.
Assist clients in meeting regulatory requirements through proactive communication and service delivery.
Work collaboratively with senior accountants and partners to support client engagements and project deliverables.
Maintain orderly client working papers, digital files and documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and quality assurance.

 
Skills & Experience

3+ years’ experience in public practice or a professional accounting environment.

Completed CPA/CA - Requirement for Senior/ Not for Intermediate
Proven proficiency in core accounting and tax compliance functions.
Strong technical skills with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, HandiLedger / HandiTax and other compliance tools.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
Good interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and internal stakeholders.
Experience working with companies, trusts and partnerships is desirable.


Desirable Attributes


Progress toward or completion of a professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA).
Exposure to business advisory or financial reporting beyond pure compliance.
Understanding of emerging accounting issues and regulatory changes.
