Join a leading Australian non-bank lender that partners with developers and real estate investors to provide flexible, commercially minded funding solutions.
Their Development Finance team works on everything from senior and stretch-senior facilities to land acquisition and residual stock loans, across residential, mixed-use, and boutique commercial projects.
The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager, Development Finance, you will source, assess, and convert property development finance opportunities nationally while being based in Sydney. This is a frontline, high-impact role within a growing non-bank platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development & Market Coverage
- Source new development finance opportunities aligned with our credit mandate.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, brokers, project consultants, and industry professionals.
- Identify upcoming development pipelines, DA approvals, and emerging growth areas.
- Represent the business at industry events and networking functions.
- Deal Assessment & Preliminary Underwriting
- Conduct feasibility reviews including GRV analysis, pre-sale requirements, and QS estimates.
- Model cash flows for construction finance and prepare preliminary credit assessments.
- Structure loans across senior, stretch-senior, land acquisition, and residual stock facilities.
- Transaction Execution
- Lead broker and borrower communication from enquiry through settlement.
- Collaborate with credit, legal, and risk teams to progress transactions.
- Coordinate valuation, QS, builder due diligence, and planning assessments.
- Portfolio & Relationship Management
- Maintain strong post-settlement relationships to support repeat business.
- 5+ years’ experience in property development finance, private credit, non-bank lending, or commercial real estate banking.
- Established network across Sydney’s development ecosystem.
- Proven track record in originating and closing development finance transactions.
- Strong financial modelling skills and understanding of DA/CDC processes.
- Familiarity with Australian regulatory frameworks (AML/CTF, NCCP exemptions, ASIC guidelines).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Entrepreneurial “hunter” mentality with commercial acumen.
- Strong relationship builder with credibility and integrity.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
- High attention to detail and disciplined credit judgment.
