Business Development Manager | Financial Services | Platform

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a growing distribution team in the financial services sector. This role is focused on building trusted relationships with financial advice practices, growing platform usage, and driving revenue through both existing client engagement and new business acquisition.

You’ll act as a strategic partner to advice businesses, helping them increase scale, improve efficiency, and deliver better client outcomes through tailored platform solutions. This is a commercially focused, relationship-led role suited to a self-starter who enjoys solving problems, influencing stakeholders, and creating long-term value.

Key responsibilities
  • Grow existing advice practices by increasing platform utilisation, wallet share, and net inflows.
  • Identify and win new advice businesses across your territory.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to onboarding and early relationship development.
  • Position the business as a trusted partner through insights, coaching, and solutions-based engagement.
  • Drive platform adoption through training, workshops, and ongoing adviser support.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline and manage activity through CRM tools.
About you
  • Proven experience in platform BDM, financial services sales, or adviser-facing roles.
  • Strong understanding of wealth management, advice businesses, and platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow relationships and win new business.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and solutions focused.

This role may suit someone with experience in platform sales, managed accounts, or adviser technology, financial services software environments. The ideal client base is smaller self-licensed advice businesses, with a focus on non-custodial models, while custodial experience would also be valued.
