As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Credit Risk Officer works closely with the CEO, Board and senior stakeholders to set direction and enable sustainable growth. The role requires clarity, decisiveness, exceptional communication and a commercial mindset that guides the business forward rather than constrains it.

About the Role:

The CCRO leads the credit, portfolio and enterprise risk functions, ensuring risk settings support strong, sustainable growth. You’ll bring real‑time judgment, a clear communication style, and a hands‑on approach to complex credit decisioning.

What You’ll Lead Credit Risk Leadership:
  • Define and embed risk appetite aligned to growth.
  • Oversee complex credit approvals, including structuring, analysis and security.
  • Strengthen credit frameworks across SME, working‑capital, term‑loan and asset‑finance products.
  • Partner with origination to deliver commercially viable, risk‑appropriate solutions.
  • Coach and mentor analysts and deal teams.
Portfolio & Enterprise Risk:
  • Monitor portfolio performance, arrears, utilisation and emerging risks.
  • Oversee loss forecasting, stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Drive improvements across modelling, analytics and data quality.
  • Enhance enterprise risk disciplines across operational, conduct, financial crime, resilience and compliance.
Leadership & Partnering
  • Collaborate with product, finance, technology, operations and origination teams.
  • Support lending innovation and product development.
  • Represent the organisation with regulators, investors and industry bodies.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing risk and credit team.
About You
  • Mandatory: Direct or current experience in Australian SME working capital and asset finance / non‑bank lending.
  • Extensive credit and risk leadership experience in non‑bank, fintech, SME or asset‑finance environments.
  • Strong capability in assessing and structuring complex commercial lending.
  • Clear, confident, executive‑level communication.
  • Proven ability to balance growth, portfolio quality and utilisation.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks (incl. NCCP where relevant), AML/CTF and enterprise‑wide risk.
  • Experienced in senior stakeholder, Board and regulator engagement.
  • International exposure welcomed but not essential.
  • Commercial mindset with a solutions‑focused approach.

Candidates from governance‑only, insurance‑led, or traditional banking backgrounds without recent SME lending experience will not be suitable.
