Role Overview
This role is based in Newcastle and requires 3 days in the office, so you must be based in Newcastle or willing to relocate.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will:
- Operate and enhance Microsoft 365 security controls, including anti-phishing, Safe Links, Safe Attachments, and Microsoft Defender (Office 365 / Endpoint / Identity / Cloud Apps).
- Maintain and optimise Conditional Access policy baselines and identity hygiene across the enterprise.
- Build and manage Microsoft Purview DLP policies across M365 workloads, supporting proactive monitoring and incident response.
- Assist the Data Governance team by configuring and maintaining sensitivity labels and auto-labelling policies.
- Secure Microsoft 365 Copilot deployments by validating data protection guardrails and supporting readiness activities.
- Maximise the value of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 E5 security investment through smart adoption, tool rationalisation, and clear reporting metrics.
- Support Power Platform security governance through DLP policy configuration and remediation of findings.
- 3+ years’ experience managing and optimising Microsoft 365 security controls in an enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Defender suite (Office 365, Endpoint, Identity, Cloud Apps).
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Purview DLP, Information Protection, and sensitivity labelling.
- Understanding of identity and access management principles, Conditional Access, and governance.
- Experience supporting secure M365 Copilot deployments and Power Platform DLP policies.
- Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft E5 licensing capabilities, adoption, and reporting.
- Work within a growing, large-scale enterprise technology environment focused on cloud security innovation and operational excellence.
