Role Overview This opportunity is suited to a junior to mid-level Database Administrator looking to deepen their experience across both cloud and on-premise environments. You will work closely with senior DBAs, developers, and infrastructure teams to support, maintain, and optimise databases supporting business-critical applications.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity with strong potential for extension or transition into a permanent role , offering hands-on exposure to modern database technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support administration, maintenance, and optimisation of databases across development, test, and production environments
- Assist with database design, object creation (tables, indexes), and performance tuning activities
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data integrity and availability
- Contribute to backup, recovery, and data migration processes across cloud and on-prem platforms
- Collaborate with developers and senior DBAs to deliver robust, scalable database solutions
- Maintain documentation, standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven experience in database administration or related technical roles
- Exposure to database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar
- Basic understanding of cloud database environments (AWS, Azure, or similar)
- Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and optimisation fundamentals
- Familiarity with backup and recovery processes
- Understanding of data modelling concepts and database design principles
- Exposure to Linux/Unix scripting or automation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Hybrid working model (flexibility between home and office)
