An established boutique accounting and advisory firm in Canberra is looking for an experienced Intermediate / Senior Accountant to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to take the next step in their career, broaden their exposure across Business Services, Tax and/or SMSF, and work towards a future Manager-level position.
You’ll join a supportive and collaborative team where you’ll have direct access to senior leadership, meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to develop beyond traditional compliance work.
The Role Working across a diverse portfolio of privately owned businesses and individuals, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Managing a portfolio of clients with increasing levels of autonomy
- Preparing and reviewing BAS and other compliance obligations
- Assisting with SMSF financial statements and tax returns
- Liaising directly with clients and building strong working relationships
- Providing financial and management reporting
- Assisting with tax planning and broader business advisory matters
- Working closely with Managers and Partners on client engagements
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members as your experience develops
- Contributing to process improvements and the ongoing development of the practice
- 3+ years' Australian public practice accounting experience
- Strong Business Services and Tax experience
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
- Exposure to SMSF accounting and compliance would be highly regarded
- Experience with Xero and/or BGL advantageous
- CA/CPA qualified or currently progressing towards qualification
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work
- An ambition to continue developing towards a Manager-level position
