Role Overview
This Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, building and deploying modern data platforms primarily on Snowflake. Reporting into a Data Engineering Lead, you will partner closely with analytics, AI/ML, platform and business stakeholders to deliver robust, production‑ready data solutions.
Your focus will be on developing scalable, high‑performance data pipelines and architectures that support analytics, reporting and AI‑driven applications across batch and real‑time use cases.
Core responsibilities include
- Design and deploy modern data architectures using Medallion and Lakehouse patterns on Snowflake
- Build complex, code‑based ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake native features, Snowpipe and dbt
- Develop performance‑optimised data models leveraging Snowflake capabilities
- Work with Big Data, including PII handling, data wrangling, formatting and preparation
- Apply engineering best practices across coding standards, version control, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting
- Implement infrastructure‑as‑code and cloud‑native patterns across AWS, Azure or GCP
- Productionise AI models by building and monitoring pipelines that feed batch and real‑time inferencing applications
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver enterprise‑grade data solutions
Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering use cases
- Proven experience building and deploying data engineering pipelines into production environments
- Hands‑on experience with the Snowflake ecosystem, including features such as Workflows, Dynamic Tables and Snowpipe
- Solid experience working with modern cloud platforms including AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP
- Practical experience implementing CI/CD, automation and cloud architecture best practices
- Experience delivering medium to large‑scale data engineering projects in enterprise environments
- Aust Citizen required
