The role
In this hands-on senior engineering role, you’ll combine technical delivery with platform ownership to build and evolve reusable IaC modules, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
You’ll work closely with platform engineers, developers, security, and governance teams to enable self-service, policy-compliant infrastructure provisioning at scale.
Play a key role in shaping IaC standards, improving developer experience, embedding guardrails and security controls whilst continuously enhancing platform reliability and automation maturity.
Key responsibilities
- Technical leadership & platform direction
Provide hands-on technical leadership for Infrastructure as Code initiatives, setting standards and direction partnering closely with engineers and architecture to ensure scalable, secure, and operationally sound outcomes. Technical Lead with a squad uplifting skills in IaC within our Cloud Engineering Excellence initiative. - Engineering & coding principles
Champion modern engineering and coding principles for IaC, including modular design, reusability, version control, automated testing, peer review, and CI/CD integration, ensuring Terraform codebases are maintainable, compliant, and production‑ready, and tying in AI as part of everything we do. - Cloud & Terraform expertise
Act as the subject-matter leader for Terraform-based cloud infrastructure deployments , with deep practical knowledge of Azure and AWS services, identity, networking, security, monitoring, landing zones and service enablement, guiding backlog prioritisation and design decisions to deliver reliable, repeatable infrastructure at scale.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling
- Enterprise cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)
- Secure-by-default infrastructure design and cloud governance
- Platform engineering or DevOps roles in large, complex environments
- Stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration
- A continuous improvement mindset and passion for automation and innovation.
