Are you a Senior or Staff‑level Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, owning systems end‑to‑end, and setting technical direction, while still being deeply hands‑on?
I’m hiring for a fast‑growing, profitable, ASX‑listed FinTech that is scaling its engineering capability and looking to add a Staff Software Engineer to a high‑performing team. This role operates very similarly to a Technical Lead , but with a stronger focus on technical depth , architecture , and ownership , rather than people management.
The Role – What You’ll Do
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a senior technical authority across core customer-facing and internal systems. Expect to work across the full stack and own major architectural decisions while delivering hands‑on engineering outcomes.
You will:
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of complex software systems and refactor major technical components.
- Build and enhance microservices with Event‑Driven Architecture across high‑scale FinTech platforms.
- Work across APIs, customer applications, credit & treasury systems, internal tooling, and more.
- Drive technical initiatives and lead projects end‑to‑end, strong technical depth is key.
- Solve ambiguous, high‑impact engineering challenges while maintaining long‑term technical health.
- Mentor senior engineers and uplift engineering capability across your domain.
- Get exposure to data platforms, DevOps, observability, and AI‑driven initiatives.
Tech Stack & Engineering Environment
You don’t need to tick every box, strong engineering fundamentals matter most, but experience across the following is highly valued:
Core Stack:
- C# / .NET Core
- React (or strong frontend experience in another modern framework)
- TDD, BDD, SOLID principles
- Strong focus on maintainability, performance and clean architectural patterns
- AWS experience (highly beneficial)
- Microservices & Event‑Driven Architecture
- Understanding of Distributed Systems and Domain‑Driven Design
- Familiarity with infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD and scalable cloud environments
- SQL Server / PostgreSQL expertise a plus
