Role Overview
As an experienced and detail oriented Tax Manager, you will be responsible for supporting a range of tax compliance, audit, and governance activities over a 2–3 month contract period. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and an external tax advisory firm to manage ATO audit information requirements, review historical tax positions, and strengthen tax governance frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage tax data and documentation collation for ATO audit requests
- Review, validate, and challenge tax workpapers, tax calculations, filings, and supporting documentation
- Review and interpret historical tax data to assess tax positions and identify anomalies
- Identify tax risk areas and contribute to the development of an enhanced tax governance framework
- Recommend improvements to future tax controls, documentation, and processes
- Liaise with external tax advisory firm, external accountants, and internal teams including Investment Operations
- Support ad hoc tax projects as required throughout the contract period
- 7+ years post-qualification experience as a tax specialist, ideally gained within a large corporate environment or Big 4 firm
- Financial Services experience highly regarded
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and challenge tax workpapers and assumptions
- Proven ability to work with complex historical tax data and documentation
- Proactive, personable approach to stakeholder engagement and communication
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex tax information
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs under time pressure
- Collaborative approach and willingness to support internal and external stakeholders
- Commitment to handling confidential client information with discretion and professionalism
- Relevant professional qualifications CA/CPA/CTA
Contract role based in Sydney CBD , with hybrid work arrangements (1–2 days WFH). Highly competitive day rates. Immediate start preferred (ideally pre-Christmas).
